19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from March of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent defended four early break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
